COP Essay- Possible examples to discuss in further detail

The Guardian

http://www.theguardian.com/help/insideguardian/2013/may/24/theguardian-global-domain

Five years ago Guardian Unlimited was relaunched as guardian.co.uk, and we were the first UK newspaper website to break 20m unique browsers per month.
Yesterday, our online traffic hit another record high, with the latest figures from ABC revealing that we are now seeing over 81m unique browsers accessing our site a month, and over 470m page views. This is the third month in a row we have seen record traffic, and testament to our digital-first strategy, which we announced nearly two years ago.
Our audience is no longer primarily in the UK. Every month, our online content is accessed from almost every country around the world. In fact, UK users now represent just a third of our total audience.
As a result, we're ready to take the next step on our bold digital journey. Later this year we'll be moving all of our global online properties to a new home – theguardian.com.
This may be a small URL change but it marks a big step for the Guardian and reflects our evolution from a much-respected national print newspaper based only in the UK – reaching hundreds of thousands of people once a day – to a leading global news and media brand, with offices around the world, and an ever-growing worldwide audience accessing Guardian journalism every minute of every day.

Since The Gaurdian going digital they have really expanded their audience to people all over the world. People now have instant acess to news and being web it gets updated constantly unlike a printed copy of the Gaudian. If you have the app you get news updates instantly to let you know whats happening around the world, much like the Sky News app also.

Express and Star

The express and star is my local newspaper back home that my parents get delivered. I didn't know they also have a website with all of the midlands news. The website isn't as good as the Gaurdian however it does give you all of the necessary information so you wouldn't have to buy the newspaper. I definitely think that buying newspapers depends on the generations and I do think that eventually they will die out because it will all be digital updates. I have never brought/ needed to buy a newspaper as I have an app on my phone, but for people like my parents who don't use the internet the newspaper is still one of their main sources of news.

VOUGE

The biggest fashion magazine Vogue has a large digital presents, however their printed magazines are very collectable. The printed versions of the magazine have a feel of quality rather than flicking through fashion images on a tablet or phone. I think this magazine works better printed.

GQ

This magazine works really well digitally. GQ one of the most popular magazines aimed at men is really popular digitally as it read by people on the go. GQ is compatible of a variety of tablet devices.

VICE

Vice is a print magazine and website focused on arts, culture, and news topics. Founded in 1994 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, the magazine later expanded into Vice Media, which consists of divisions including the magazine and website, a film production company, a record label, and a publishing imprint.

PRINTED PAGES

Printed Pages is 'it's nice that' printed version. They both compliment each other well and are aimed at creatives for inspiration. I read both, I just browse though it's nice that but to get printed pages as it has a quality feel to it, it is more permeant and I like to keep them.

STATISTICS

Here are some statistics about digital magazines I found with a Gaurdian article about how popular digital magazines are.
