Advertising Lecture

Advertising is a way of persuasion. 

A tool used by capitalism to change established values with society.

Advertising is fuel, it fuels us all to buy, or change our opinions on certain situations.

Advertising changes our perceptions on what we want and need.

Advertising influences the way we think and behave. 

No short term effect specific to product modifies us over a long period of time.


Barbra Kruger

Barbara Kruger is an American conceptual artist. Much of her work consists of black-and-white photographs overlaid with declarative captions—in white-on-red Futura Bold Oblique or Helvetica Ultra Condensed.



Dolce and Gabbana Advertising 

Dolce and Gabbana use alot of naked people in there advertiisgin and keep it quite sexual as this grabs peoples attention and persuades them to buy the product, as it will make them look this good too. They are selling an attitude. 



Tom Ford Perfume for Men

These are very controversial adverts but they did make it into such magazines such as GQ ect. Again they use sexual tones to grab the attention of the audience, in this case he want to grab the males attention so he uses women. 


What is good about advertising? 

1) Drive creativity
2) Wave creative persuasive communication to flu fill peoples dreams
3) Advertising is a very powerful piece of art
4) Shapes popular culture 
5) Endelessly entertaining
6) It can lighten and inspire 
7) It reflects, values hopes and dreams
8) Challenges you to do stuff 
9) Questions social norms and attitudes 
10) Raises Awareness
