COP Practical- Foiling

Foiling is another new process that I have learnt and experimented with, the foiled paper will be featured inside the front page of the publication. The front of the publication will feature different textures and processes to prove print has more physical qualities. To foil the negatives/design need to get exposed on a fabric screen, and screen printed as normal with glue. Once the glue is fully dry the foil is placed over the top shiny side up, then placed sandwiched in paper and heat pressed for twelve seconds, when the paper is cooled the foil can be pealed back to reveal the design. The decision to go for a deep blue foil was to complement Instagram and my publication, the stock is a metallic grey to bring out the blue. Overall, this process has worked well and the shininess will add an extra texture to the publication.

Experiment

This is just an exerpiement with the negative of the foil, spreading the glue evenly on the paper then adding the negative of the Instagram logo on and heat pressing it. When pealed off the foil became cracked and textured, the outcome didn’t work well however this is just an experiment.
