Concepts

It is important to have a concept behind everything you do in graphic design, it has to have a purpose. Most things actually have a concept behind them, here are a few examples of bars that have a concept behind them. 

Clinic Bar Singapore

The clinic bar in Singapore has a very unique concept behind it, it is a bar that you sit in and it is like a hospital, everything is like a hospital. You sit in wheel chairs and dentist chairs, drink from syringes and test tubes and the staff are in hospital uniform. Im not sure why they decided to design it as a hospital as they are usually places you tend to want to avoid, however it is good for tourists.

This bar is set 5 meters below sea level so you are actually underwater, but instead of keeping the inside normal they have kept with the sea theme which I think is a nice touch. There is a lot of fish in the menu and you get to look out to the natural coral and fish in the sea. 

Ice Pub Prague 

There are many ice bars around the world, this one is in Prague and was made by Heineken beer, I think it works as it promotes the beer well. 

As a short task in teams we have to come up with our own unique concept for a bar, I am in a team with Helen, Nessa, Molly and Katie. Initially we came up with a variety of ideas and were just playing with them, for example, we thought of a roller drome, a fish tank bar, and cheap student cocktail bars. 

In the end we decide to go for a bar that you could bring your own drinks to on certain nights and just pay to get in, this would be aimed at students in Leeds. We were thinking of advertising on Facebook, and maybe having it underground. We would have a few separate rooms depending on your music taste, also a birthday room that you can hire for free for peoples birthdays. We would have a variety of drinks including alcoholic slush puppies, and cheap cocktails. There would be round tables for everyone to fit around, with different drinking games on them, the bar would also include a DJ booth where you can make requests using the free wifi and duke box app. There would also be a Photo Booth where you can print of memories of the night.
